Product Questions

What materials are used for your products?

To make our InstaCellar, CellarVue, Living Series and Retail Wine Rack series, we source Ponderosa Pine from the Pacific Northwest, Premium Redwoood from managed forests in California and Oregon and Grand Mahogany from FSC certified plantations in South America. Additional racking lines come from sapele mahogany, white oak, walnut as well as cold rolled steel, stainless steel and brushed or polished aluminium.

Do you make racks in custom sizes?

Yes. Specifications that cannot be met by our extensive selection of racks can be made to order. As each order is unique, extra lead time, a professional consultation or down payment may be necessary to complete the order. For obvious reasons, outside of manufacturer defect custom products may not be returned after purchase.

What finish colors do you offer?

Wine Racks America-made products are available in oak, cherry, walnut, burgundy, grey and black stains as well as a beautiful secondary satin finish. Estate Series racking is available in walnut, spanish mahogany or espresso stain. VintageView metal racking and other metal racking comes black, brushed aluminium, chrome, brushed nickel or in an array of exotic pastel colors and finishes.

Will the cork stay wet?

Yes. All wine racking available at Wine Racks America is designed to store the bottle at such an angle that the cork stays wet at all times.

What is the biggest mistake people make when choosing a cooling system?

Underestimating the cooling capacity they will need for their wine room. Common factors such as glass wall construction, inadequate insulation and/or high traffic add load to the cooling unit and can contribute to cooling systems that run all the time and therefore wear out prematurely. If your wine room suffers from any or all of the conditions mentioned, be sure to size your cooling unit up accordingly.

Will your wine racks hold all bottle sizes?

Yes. Across our various wood and metal product lines you will find racking options for all bottle sizes and styles including 350ml splits, all 750ml bottle styles, 1.5L magnum and champagne bottles, 3L jeroboams and up to 6L collector bottles. As we like to say “we never met a a bottle we couldn’t rack”.

Installation Questions

Do I put the racks together myself?

Depending on the products you purchase, some assembly may be required.

How long does assembly take?

You should budget approximately 10-30 minutes for assembling any Wine Racks America wood product. Other products may require some assembly and may also include the extra steps of mounting products to a wall or other surface. Most products at our web site include a link to the Owner’s manual or assembly guide, where you will find manufacturer recommendations and best practices.

Should I anchor my wine rack to the wall?

An average bottle of wine weights 2.65 lbs. This means that a stocked 100 bottle wine rack will weigh approximately 300 lbs. We recommend that any wood wine rack over 36″ tall be anchored to something solid to avoid tipping. To attach a rack to the wall, use your own technique or follow these instructions:

(A) Place the rack at the installation location so the back is even with the wall. Locate a wall stud behind the rack. Drive wood 2½” screws through one of the wood bracers on the back of the rack and into a stud. Repeat every 18″.

– OR –

(B) Shim the rack to level, then use “L” brackets (available from any hardware store) and attach them to both the rack and the wall, selecting locations out-of-sight on the rack for mounting. Use of a bubble level will yield the best results.

When should I schedule a contractor?

We strongly recommend that all packages be received and inspected at least a week before installation. In the unlikely event that there are shipping damages or delivery delays due to weather conditions, 3rd party handling, etc. Wine Racks America cannot be responsible for expedited shipping or other expenses due to the need to reschedule your on-site installers.

How is my order shipped?

Depending on the item(s) orders are shipped via FedEx, UPS or by the USPS. If your order is too large for ground service, we will ship it via commercial freight or work with you to secure a suitable alternative.

What are lead times?

Lead times can differ based on the product types and quantities in your order.

How long does it take to receive my order?

Once your order is shipped you will receive it in 2 to 5 business days, based on your location. For a more accurate reference check out our shipping map.

How much is shipping?

Many items at Wine Racks America ship free of charge. Depending on the product and its source, there may be shipping charges associated with your purchase.

What if parts are missing from my shipment?

What if my order arrives damaged?

While most shipments are received without issue, from time to time packages can be damaged in transit. Our goal is to help you assess the damage as quickly as possible and get a replacement in your hands. The best way to document damage is with a cell-phone picture that can be emailed or texted to our Customer Service department. Once you have a picture, simply contact us at 1-888-373-6057 to get the ball rolling.

Can I make my order a gift?

Yes. Gift options are available at checkout. Your items will be sent with plain packaging, no price information, and a personal message.

Does your website offer secure ordering?

Yes. Our shopping cart utilizes validation codes and industry standard 128-bit encryption that securely transfers your personal information.

Do you share my personal or contact information?

No! Information you provide to us stays with us. We will not share it with anyone.

Returns & Cancellations

What is your return policy?

All of our products have our 30-day money back guarantee. You can return products for any reason. The product must be returned unaltered by the customer, and in the original packaging. Items will be assessed a restocking fee of 10% to 25% depending on the product’s manufacturer. Items that are returned in unsaleable condition are not eligible for a refund. Customers are responsible for shipping costs on returned merchandise.

How do I return a package?

To initiate a return, call 1.866.469.0789 to obtain a Return Request Form. Forms must be filled out and emailed or faxed back to receive a Return Authorization Number along with instructions on how to proceed and where the item will need to be returned.

What if I want to cancel my order?

It is vital you call 1.866.469.0789 as quickly as possible after the order is placed. This leaves a narrow window to make cancellations or changes before an order ships. Shipped orders are covered by our 30-day money back guarantee.
